Apple introduced iBooks for iPhone and iPod touch recently. Even though iBooks ( or Stanza or any other eBook reader app for that matter ) supports PDF files , you cannot read a PDF file as comfortably as an ePub file on a small screen of an iPhone or iPod touch .The reason is ,  the font size in a PDF file cannot be increased and therefore , you will be forced to pinch zoom the document and hence you have to scroll it horizontally again and again to read a single line.

The only solution for the problem is to convert your PDF files to the  ePub format. Here are few methods to convert to ePUB format for free:

1. ePub2go :

ePub2go.com is a free online PDF to ePub converter . You can either upload a PDF file from your computer or you can specify the link of the file on the internet. ePub2go restricts converting PDF files more than 30 MB of size.

2. Calibre:

calibre is an open source eBook library management software. One of the features of calibre is the PDF to ePub converter. There is no restriction on the size of the PDF file . It is more flexible than ePub2go as it gives more options to the users  ( for example, you can edit/download the metadata of the eBook and you can also restrict the size of the output ePub file ). It also fetches news from your favorite sources and converts it into eBook .

3. DIY ( for the geeks ) :

Yes, you read it right .You can convert an PDF files to ePub format yourself without depending on any other software to do the work for you. Here is a tutorial on How to make an ePUB file yourself?. So, by using the PDF file’s content as your ePub file’s content you can do the conversion. This method is  little difficult and tedious to do.  A good understanding of XHTML is a prerequisite for this method. 

Advantages of converting to ePub :

1. Easy reading on your iPhone/iPod touch.
2. The converted file is smaller in size.

Disadvantages :

1. The converted file may not have the same type of formatting as the source PDF file.
2.   You may loose some of the images from the PDF file .

Nokia released its official walk through videos for N8  on its blog.Seeing the video ,one can easily fall in love with this gadget. The Nokia N8 is a Full touch screen ,12MP phone with HD video recording capability and it  runs on Symbian ^3 .  The price tag of $494 is cheap for the device , considering its specs.

Chris Bennetts, Senior Project Manager at Nokia, explains about the key features of the device like messaging , interface,Music player , Video and photo editing and HDMI capability in the video series. In the first of the three videos he showcases the messaging and home screen functionalities of the phone. Nokia C7 – Nokia’s first 8 mega pixel full touch screen mobile phone has just leaked on a chinese website . The phone looks pretty similar to the Samsung corby and Motorolla XT800. In the pictures ,we can  see a secondary camera ( I guess it would be a 1.3 MP cam)  on the front side and a 8MP camera on the rear. it also hosts a dual  LED flash and stereo speakers.

The phone has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and it runs on symbian S60 5th edition.if the rumors are to be believed the phone will support 720p video capture and facial recognition too. Here are the pictures of the device.

iPhones and iPod touches are known for their durability . Many drop and scratch tests on the past showed the same. But, it seems that the new iPhone 4 will not be as durable as its predecessors?.

The guys at  iFix your i  tested the durability  of the iPhone 4 with a drop test and the result of it will be quite shocking for the iPhone lovers ( including me ). the result is clearly shown in the pic below (after all a picture is worth a thousand words ! )

The device was dropped from a height of 3.5 ft on a concrete surface (dropped flat )  .The iPhone 4 lasted for two drops and on the third drop the glass on the iPhone shattered.

To test the durability , when the corner of the iPhone hits the surface  first , a second test was conducted and it broke on 7th drop of the test ( poor thing! ) .

The staffs at ifix your i say that the main reason for the failure is that the , glass is just  fixed on the aluminum frame in the iPhone 4 model , while  in the older models the glass was recessed and protected by a chrome bezel.
